
Hakuba is a famous resort surrounded by mountain chains of the Japanese North Alps, well known as the host of 1998's Nagano Olympics. Within winter especially, snow here is perfect for skiing and snowboarding, which attracts skiers in a great variety of ages and levels.With more than 10 ski resorts, Thanks to the coming of thousands of foreign visitors, Hakuba has become one of the "hotest spot" for skiing in Japan.
Premium ski courses, expertly laid out and groomed, throughout this largest slope of the Hakuba mountains include the “bell ringing hill slope” for beginners and families and the more challenging and variable 4,630-meter “Alder course” for intermediate and advanced skiers. And don’t forget the Snow Park. In mid-March, visitors can enjoy the vast views of the off-piste glories of the North Alps, from a helicopter or try the ropeway climb! The ski season here runs for five months, from December to the beginning of May. Sato

Hanazawa

Soma
This world-famous recreational area is the largest in Japan. Many people visit here from all over the world. Once you ski here, you will become a confirmed “Happo” fan.
Nakamura
Enjoy the diverse cuisine offered by restaurants featuring foods from various countries. A baby-sitting service and a kids’ school are also available for families.
Ascend to the top on the gondola lift, and you can ski in every direction. At the bottom of the mountain, the kids’ park and a baby-sitting room keep the younger set entertained. There is something for everyone―from young people who want to fully enjoy their stay, to whole families who want to take it easy playing in the snow.
The snow park is fully equipped and the courses have a variety of changes to challenge every skill level. It’s very popular for those who want to ski actively! Travel to the backcountry by snowshoe to see, close up, the magnificent mountains of the Japanese Alps. You may even meet a Japanese serow if you are lucky!

Nakamura
Hakuba Iwatake ski resort is unique, facing all three mountains of Hakuba in the North Alps. The beautiful and magnificent 360 degree panorama from the top of the mountain is well worth seeing.
Matsuzawa
The best part of Hakuba Iwatake Ski resort is its spectacular ski course, which can be enjoyed by all skiers at any level, from beginners to advanced, regardless of their skills.

At the bottom of the magnificent North Alps mountains, “Hakuba Goryu ski resort” is located at the entrance of Hakuba. It offers top quality fine snow and a matchless view of the alps. Its three unique slopes, “Alps”, “Tomi” and “Iimori” have a wide variety of courses and many challenging special areas. Hoshina
At the Escal Plaza at the Tomi slope, stroll through the ski shops, enjoy the tune-up, nap and bath services as well as the fine restaurants, and browse the rental stores. Just bring yourself.
Shimokawa
Iimori slope offers a wide and gentle slope for safe beginner skiing, as well as the “Family Land Iimori” for kids (Admission: 500 yen per day per person)
Hakuba has many attractions besides fabulous skiing. A choice of restaurants, such as the Izakaya bar, a brick oven pizzeria or Chinese cuisine, provides flavorful and varied dining experiences. Winter activities that you can enjoy without skiing, such as the snowshoe tour or a snowmobile experience, are ever-popular offerings. Try the thrill of sliding down the long course from the top to the bottom of the mountain or visit the colorful snow park.
Manabe
Personally, I recommend Route 8. When you ski on a fine day, you will see all three Hakuba mountains right before your eyes. I recommend the great view of 47 and the snow play!
